Bespoke silk scarf
One of our favourite recent projects has been designing a bespoke silk foulard for our client Fabiana’s fabulous Mexican themed 40th birthday. A foulard is a soft, light silk fabric often used for scarfs of handkerchiefs, and usually features a printed design.
This unique, playful illustration dreamt up by the GG print team was inspired by the vibrant colours and exotic flora and fauna of Mexico. Other stylistic inspiration included the iconic Hermes silk scarves, which are famous for their sophisticated yet eclectic patterns, as well as the wonderful paintings of nature and animals by the late American artist John James Audubon.
The original print used for the scarf was created by our graphic artist Ian in dialogue with our founder Laura in a fresh and modern style. It depicts two toucans and the words ‘Carpe Diem’ and ‘FAB 40’ written in the middle in bespoke calligraphy, surrounded by tropical plants and flowers. The illustration is rendered in an evocative, striking colour scheme of bright greens, oranges, pinks and yellows against a luscious magenta backdrop. This creation was then printed onto a 90×90 cm silk scarf.
The final result ended up being a real showstopper. Quirky yet sophisticated, this bespoke luxury scarf captures the vibrant and exotic energy of Mexico. The item also compliments the set of placement cards with the same design, which we also created for the birthday table. Together, they brought the perfect touch of fun escapism to our client’s 40th birthday celebration, capturing the spirit of a tropical getaway.
